Humane Heroes Unleashed
Join us for Junior Humane Heroes Unleashed and Humane Heroes Unleashed! These engaging programs provide young animal lovers with hands-on experience in animal care and shelter operations. Participants will work closely with our dedicated shelter staff, making a real difference in the lives of our animals. This is an exciting opportunity to develop new skills, connect with like-minded peers, and contribute to our mission of helping animals in need.

When: Mondays and Tuesdays, 3:30-6 pm

Who: Designed for ages 14-17 or experienced Humane Heroes
Junior Humane Heroes
- When: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-6 pm
- Who: Perfect for ages 10-13 or those new to the Humane Heroes program.
Please note: Participants should be prepared to follow directions and commit to a hands-on, rewarding experience.

Telling Tails
Telling Tails is a volunteer program for adults with children ages 5-17 to read to adoptable animals (mostly cats) at MHHS on Wednesdays between 3:00 and 5:00 pm and Sundays between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
- Adults become volunteers, and are responsible for training and supervising their children.
- If your application is approved, we will send you an orientation and related virtual trainings for opportunities that you are interested in.
- For Telling Tails volunteers: a small start-up fee of $60 covers the cost of the background check, supplies, uniform and training.
- A background check is required.
- Please note: we use peanut butter throughout our facility.
