Harvey Emmett

My husband and I were the proud parents of two senior cats. We had Hemingway, who is 16 years old and whom I rescued when he was 11 months old. We then added 15-year-old Hime (Japanese for "Princess") two years ago when her family moved to Japan. My husband had never had cats before he met me and quickly became a cat lady.

One day in November 2014 my husband decided to look at the rescue cats from a local animal hoarding case that MHHS had helped to rescue. Hoping to convince me to get another cat, he sent me a few pictures. Well, I decided to counter that, and send him some pics of the dogs they had listed. I had never had a dog of my own. We had a fenced-in yard with our new house, and Christmas was coming. I sent him three pictures and he immediately noted the sweet eyes of one dog in particular - Emmett, a basset hound/golden retriever mix. I asked if we could go see him, and that was it. We traveled to the PetSmart in Latham, where he arrived that day from MHHS, and we were hooked.

Harvey Emmett has been an incredible addition to our lives. He never bothers the cats, and he has the sweetest face, eyes and disposition. He is so social and gentle, we take him with us wherever we can. My husband's parents once remarked it is "like being out with a celebrity" when you are out with him because everyone wants to stop, pet him and ask about his breed. Thank you, MHHS, for our awesome furbaby addition!
