Izzie
I adopted Izzie on January 5th, 2007. Her shelter name was Kylie but I insisted on changing it in honor of my previous cat, Furdy (who was put down because of diabetes - he was also 13 years old, but a trooper). Since Furdy was short for Ferdinand, I decided to name her Izzie because King Ferdinand of Spain's wife was Queen Isabella. It fit!
The day I adopted her I was a bit sad because the day before I had been interested in another cat but someone adopted her before I could get back in time. The next day I went back, determined to (hopefully) find a cat for me. It had to be a female (my dad protested a male for some reason) and I noticed a young female eating food and I asked to play with her. It was an instant connection, especially because she fell asleep in my lap! We got all of the paperwork out of the way and she was mine!
She's probably the most energetic cat I've ever had, and I love that about her. She's not overly affectionate but she loves to jump up in bed and sniff your face until you wake up because she wants to play. She even waits for me at the top of the stairs when I come home from working late! I'm glad I didn't adopt the other cat because I wouldn't have found my Princess (not Queen until she turns 1) Izzie.
