Dora
I'm writing about my wonderful little girl Dora, as she was named while she was staying at your shelter. My fiancé Jake and I wanted so desperately to make an addition to our family. We plan to get married and have children and in that order, so we decided to get a dog. I have grown up with Beagles all my life and so wanted to continue to care for the dogs my father had loved so much.
After much searching to find dogs that would need a home, on July 10th, 2008, we decided to head down to your shelter. On a whim, I sat down at the computer to check out your web site for the adoptable dogs. We needed to get a small breed and when I saw the name Dora and Beagle/Dachshund mix, I was so curious to see what she would look like. We walked through the doors, and at the desk playing with all the people was the cutest dog I had ever seen! I asked what her name was and the volunteer said Dora.
Not wanting to take away the other dogs' chance to catch my eye, Jake and I walked through the back looking at the dogs. I felt for all of them but couldn't stop thinking about how much I loved Dora. After walking back out, we quickly asked to play with Dora. We brought her outside to the grass and Jake laid down. Dora went right up to him and nuzzled up close. She then came over to me. I picked her up and she put her nose right into my neck. That's all it took. I said, "She's going home with me."
Since the day we brought Dora home, which was a day after her first birthday, she has had a wonderful life with us. She is our little girl. She loves playing with the kids she meets and any toy she can find. She loves other dogs and to cuddle in at night with myself and Jake. Though she still hates the bath, she is getting better and better every time she has to take one.
Thank you so much for the wonderful gift that is Dora.

PS - We think Dora looks like Max from "The Grinch" and we will send you some photos we plan to take of her in her Max costume!
