Yahtzee

After having to put our 10-year-old dog (who had also been a MHHS rescue) to sleep on January 21, there was a big hole in our family's home and heart. We thought it would be months before we were ready to accept another dog into our lives. But I had started looking at the adoptable dogs on the MHHS web site; I really missed a walking buddy.

On February 1, I went to MHHS "just to look" and came upon Riley in his cage. He was everything I wanted in a dog - age, size, coat and activity level. I arranged to meet him and was won over. He was the sweetest boy! I brought my husband over after work and he was won over as well. We surprised our children by bringing him home that night! We renamed him Yahtzee because we were all winners in adopting him.

After a bath, Yahtzee claimed the couch as his main sleeping spot, which was just fine with us. He loves to put his head on our laps while watching TV. He even begs you to sit on the couch with him.

Yahtzee gets along great with his four new cat siblings. They all eat together in the morning - no growling or hissing.

Yahtzee LOVES his walks. He has a silly grin the whole time and keeps up a grueling pace! I just love having his companionship. He is very friendly with the many dogs we meet while walking. The humans we meet are also won over by his very friendly nature.

Playing in the yard chasing after toys is another favorite of Yahtzee's. He loves to just go all out with his running.

We are very happy with Yahtzee and are looking forward to a good many years with him in our home.
