Walter and Zoey

Hello to all the wonderful people at Mohawk Humane Society! We wanted to send you all an update on our two beautiful pit bulls, known at the shelter as Melody and Falcon, but today they go by the names Zoey and Walter.

We adopted Zoey in December 2010 and she has been such a wonderful, amazing dog since the day we brought her home. She was actually so great that the following Christmas we went out and adopted another amazing dog named Falcon (now Walter). He had been at the shelter for some time and the staff was so attached to him the day we took him home, everyone came out to say goodbye and tell us what a wonderful dog he was. Although it's always hard to choose a dog out of all the beautiful faces in the shelter, when we took him outside to meet Zoey we knew we had found a great match.

Walter is a pit bull in every sense of the word. He is happy to meet everyone, loves to play and has an incredible drive. He's most obedient dog we have every owned, and he's also a great alarm system when needed. They are both so wonderful with children as well. When we had family visiting over Labor Day weekend, the dogs refused to sleep anywhere but cuddled up in bed with the kids.

Today they both live with my boyfriend and me on a seven-acre farm out in the country. They romp and play every day, and they are absolutely obsessed with swimming in the lake by our house. Walter has a natural affinity for dock diving and we are hoping someday to let him show off at a dog show.

Thank you so much for all you do, and know that you really do provide a wonderful second chance for dogs everywhere. We hope that others see our happy tail and realize that pit bulls are incredible family dogs and if you give them a chance, they will be happy to prove it to you.
