Versace

We were very sad when our flame point Siamese died, and knew we needed a male of Siamese origin to help us through our sadness. Our Bengal female was lost without her companion. When we saw "Versace," we knew he was just the ticket.

It has only been four days, but "Sachi" has come miles in his adjustment. Given all he has been through, from being a stray on the streets of Albany to neutering, vetting, etc., he has made tremendous strides.

Our other cat, Jenny, accepted him right away. It is clear she is an important part of helping him feel like he belongs here. He dogs her with great curiosity and interest.

Sachi does not know his name yet. However, it is clear he wants to be around us, and that ultimately he will be a yummy part of the family. His coat is as soft as rabbit fur.

Thank you, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, for all you do. We are grateful you saved this one, and know that he will be part of our lives here forever in Vermont.

Dear Friends,

I'd like you to have an update on Versace, whom we adopted in July of 2008. He has proven himself to be a most interesting, intelligent and engaging creature. He insists on going out in winter, a miniature snow leopard in Vermont.

Sace has improved greatly in his tolerance of handling but does not wish to be a lap cat. In spite of this desire to be distant, he is intrigued with his life. He comes to a whistle every time he is called, and sleeps with me and the other cat of the house in my bed at night.

The cat is the self-appointed mayor of our quiet neighborhood. Particularly in summer, he inspects every activity, assists all visiting workmen, and observes and supports all gardening endeavors. He delivers catnip toys to those he feels most deserving, sometimes three a day. He looks forward to walking with Kris and her neighbor, Jean. If this ritual is ignored, he lets them know it's time to go. It is a common sight to see these two women marching along with a cat trotting behind...always behind.

Our lives have been changed by his addition to our family!

Patty and Kris
