Tashi Delek
The special name we chose for the puppy you called Rosita is "Tashi Delek," which is a Tibetan greeting meaning roughly "Blessings and good luck." We had recently returned from hiking in Tibet when we adopted Tashi last year. We were enthralled with the many Tibetan people who warmly welcomed us with these words, followed quickly by sticking their tongues out as their mark of respect on greeting someone. Our silly Tashi also smiles with her tongue lolling out when greeting us, friends and even strangers. She can run like the wind, play like a kid, eat like a horse and melt your heart like the hero in a trashy romance novel. Thank you, Althea and volunteers, for your patience as we searched for weeks until finding the right dog, and thank you, Chris Danker, for your patience in guiding Tashi and me to be better citizens. Tashi has certainly brought many blessings and good luck to our lives.
