Selina and Nala
Selina (black & white) & Nala (brown & black)
My boyfriend, Derek, and I wanted to adopt a kitten we felt a connection with it. We saw a three-month-old kitten on the MHHS website with unique markings similar to Derek's facial hair and who was at Petco in Clifton Park. It was meant to be! Renamed Selina, she is mischievous with an attitude, but (on her time) is a little lovebug. She has become a daddy's girl and loves us very much; every day we come home to kisses and head butts. She is incredibly smart and loves to climb and play. Her favorite game is fetch, with hair ties! She can play for hours and never get bored, and has even figured out how to play fetch alone by dropping it off a high place and chasing after it.
Selina got lonely (she likes the company of people) so we spoiled her, got her stuffed animals, and left the radio or TV on for company. If we went out, she would meow for a good 5-10 minutes and demand 100% of our attention immediately when we returned. Almost exactly one year later we fell in love again, with Biggie (now Nala) at Petco. She was shy but eventually warmed up. She has the softest fur and sweetest demeanor. We introduced Nala to Selina carefully and eased them in to living with one over about a week and a half. Although introductions were rocky, in the months since they have adjusted well.
Although incredibly shy and skiddish, Nola is very loving with us (but is a mama's girl!). Like Selina, she gives kisses upon special occasions. She will squeek-meow to let you know she's not happy, and lets you know that she is ready for bed, as she will not settle for the night without us. Selina and Nala have different activity levels and only play occasionally, but are almost always in the same room. They're very cute together. Nala seems to be good company for Selina, who no longer gets lonely and angry when we leave.
Selina & Nala are very special cats with characteristics that make them unique. They both like to be warm and will find a blanket to crawl under if they're cold. They both give kisses. Selina plays fetch and likes water. Nala is a snuggler who likes her people but is afraid of everyone else, yet the vacuum and blow-dryer do not faze her.
We love spending time with our fur-babies them and spoiling them. We could not have asked for better additions to our life together; both were healthy upon adoption and are thriving. The volunteers at MHHS are wonderful, friendly and helpful.
Thank you, MHHS!
Sincerely,
Kristen, Derek, Selina & Nala
