Lucy
My boyfriend and I adopted our pit mix, Lucy, in November of 2008. At the time, she was four months old. She and several of her siblings had been strays, and because they were found just days before Halloween, they were all named after candy bars. (I see at least one of her siblings is another Happy Tail - Butterfinger/Bella!) Originally, she was Kit Kat - but we decided that naming her after Lucille Ball was much more fitting (she's black and white, and full of mischief)!
We feel so lucky to have found the perfect dog for us. She loves going for walks, hikes, playing baseball, swimming, playing in the snow and snuggling. Lucy is very smart and really enjoys learning new tricks. She does a hilarious chest crawl across the floor to make us laugh, and recently she's been getting really good at walking around on two feet. Her favorite words to hear are breakfast, supper and cheese. I feel like I'm with a celebrity when I take her for walks, as people often fawn over her and tell me she looks like the dog from Our Gang/Little Rascals.
Thank you to everyone who works and volunteers at Mohawk Hudson. Your time and dedication to so many animals is truly admirable.
