Lilly

Once again, we have adopted another critter from MHHS, in addition to our brown tiger cat, Basil, whom we adopted this past August. As a MHHS volunteer at Latham's PetSmart, I had the opportunity to get to know a number of cats and kittens. My boyfriend and I knew we wanted a second cat to have as a friend for Basil. In November, a very calm and sweet cat named Reina came into PetSmart. I immediately thought she was a sweetheart and bonded with her right away. Her story made me even more attached to her, as she was found as a stray in Albany with her litter of kittens.

In early December, we made Reina, now known as Lilly, a part of our family. Lilly's acclimation to our home was difficult. After her initial vet visit, we found out that she had a heart murmur and a large hernia that needed to be removed immediately. Things have calmed down since the holidays, and both Lilly and Basil are doing great and are the best of buds. They love to wrestle and chase each other and take long naps.
