Cleo

We wanted to thank Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for helping us adopt the little stray cat we brought to the shelter on a cold December evening. Her shelter name was Wendy, but we have named her Cleo, short for Cleopatra, because she is a real princess.

We had seen Cleo on and off again, roaming our neighborhood for a couple of weeks. She had come up to us each time, meowed in the softest, sweetest little kitty voice, and one time even started to follow me as I walked to work. One evening, when it was 19 degrees outside and dropping, we saw her just two doors up the street from our apartment. We couldn't determine if she belonged to anyone, and couldn't understand how anyone in their right mind could let their cat, let alone one so small and beautiful as her, outside on a night like that. Petting her and holding her, it was obvious that she had been stray for more than a short time. We knew we had to do something, and we couldn't just leave her outside in the frigid cold. Having three big beautiful boy cats already, we knew we couldn't keep her without knowing what her medical condition was, and we weren't sure if we were ready to adopt a fourth cat. Our only option was to bring her to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

But, as fate would have it, we knew right after leaving her that we wanted to adopt her. It really seems like she found us, after all. Thanks to the kindness of you all, we were able to bring her home to become part of our family. She truly was an early Christmas present, and she now has a home where she will be loved and cared for, and three big cat brothers who have accepted her and like to play with her (that is, when she's not busy chasing her fuzzy pink mouse about the house).

We are thankful and fortunate to have been blessed with such an incredibly cute, well behaved and all-around wonderful little girl. Thanks to you all for helping give her a Christmas in a new home where she will never be cold or lonely again.
