Bumble Bee

A year and a half ago, my boyfriend and I were in search of a four-legged friend to make a part of our family. We arrived at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, and saw this skinny little Whippet mix pup with the biggest puppy dog eyes, rightfully named Bumble Bee. She excitedly licked our hands and we took her out to play. Bumble Bee was so happy to be outside she just ran and ran and ran. She ran into us, around us, over us. Needless to say, we were a little overwhelmed. We decided we would go home and think about whether or not we could handle such a high-energy dog. That night we did a ton of research on the Whippet breed, and adopting rescue dogs, and the next day we took Bumble Bee home.

After a nice walk in the woods around the shelter, she sat on my boyfriend's lap in the back seat the entire ride home. Sitting in the front seat, I could hear him talking to her and he remarked, "I just love you." She had won his heart over, and mine, in just a few minutes with her sweet demeanor and her love of life.

Bumble Bee has graduated from puppy school and loves her walks and especially play time with Daddy. (I think he thinks he is a dog too, wrestling around on the floor and chasing each other around the house.) She hasn't lost her insane energy, but she is also the best cuddler in the world, which balances it out. Bumble Bee sleeps with us every night, keeps us laughing every day and has brought a huge amount of unconditional love into our home. We could not be happier with bringing her home, and I think she is pretty stoked about it too!
