Boogity

The night I first saw Boogity, it was love at first sight. I met Terri Cook at Petco, where she was carting around a few little kittens - tiny kittens. Among the tiny black kittens was a puny cream and gray colored Siamese mix, whom I immediately fell in love with. Although he smelled of tuna fish, had food all over his face, was half asleep, and had a few extra toes, somehow I knew right away that he was the one that I wanted to take home with me. His bright blue eyes just stared at me. Holding him there in just one hand, he fell asleep with his head back and his mouth hanging wide open. I told Terri that I wanted this little cat and she told me that it was a little too early for him to go home and I would have to wait another week, but she promised that she would bring him back to me.

She did. I brought the little runt home the following weekend and this is where Boogity's story began. Boogity was so young that he didn't really know how to eat or drink yet, and would only eat baby food. On top of this, it had to be Gerber stage 2, chicken. Not Beech Nut, not any other flavor, not any other brand. Gerber stage 2, chicken. Boogity did not know how to play, all he knew how to do was scream for food. But the thing is, he didn't really know how to eat, he would shove his face in the food and suck in whatever he could. Afterward, he would definitely need a bath or a good face cleaning! Terri was so much help during Boogity's ordeal. She met my mother and I at Petco numerous times to give us various medications, vitamins, etc. to get Boogity healthy. His little nose was sore, he sneezed about 100 times a day, and ate A LOT. Terri was scared every time I called her because she thought something had happened to Boogity. She wasn't sure he was going to make it for a long time.

He did. As he grew, he learned how to eat, and he learned how to play. He even terrorized the family dog, Penny, playing with her food as she was trying to eat, and latching on to her leg and long fur as she was trying to eat. To this day, he still cries for food, has an eye infection every now and then, and even still has sneezing fits! Today Boogity is 14 months old, is much bigger at about 10 lbs, and is my little buddy. He greets me every day when I get home, begs for food when I'm making my own lunch, and cries for more of his own food. I have since adopted another Siamese mix, a little girl, Charlotte, as a friend for Boogity. They get along beautifully, and I couldn't be happier. I am so happy that Boogity made it through his sick, puny, runt-like days, and has grown into a beautiful big blue-eyed cat who makes a great friend, better than I had ever imagined. I am so thankful to Terri and all of her help with Boogity's early days. It truly is a happy ending.
