Bernard

A week after my wife and I celebrated our ninth anniversary, Pepper, one of our two cats, died suddenly and unexpectedly. We were both very heartbroken, and I took it pretty hard; Pepper and I were genuinely buddies. We decided that the best way for us to deal with our grief was to adopt another cat.

So, we stopped by MHHS, and we were particularly taken by a black and white cat. We even liked his name: Bernard. We spent some time with him. He seemed to be pretty friendly. I'd told my wife that I wanted a cat like Pepper: social, friendly, active, and a character. Was he the one we wanted to take home? After hemming and hawing about it for a day, I stopped by MHHS after work to pick up our new family member!

He has turned out to be everything we wanted! He is very active, playful, and social! He'll keep us company around the house, and has taken to following us everywhere. We even decided to keep his name. It's taken a little time for Nutmeg, our other cat, to get acquainted with her newly adopted little brother, but a month has passed, and they seem to be getting along!

I'm writing this on Thanksgiving Day. My wife and I are very thankful that Bernard has entered our lives.
